Makeup brushes are another one of my guilty pleasures and something I’m willing to splurge on as I consider them a great investment. Today I’ve chosen 5 of my favourite blush brushes to share with you. Each one of them I love for blush application, but I also use them for highlighting or contour.
Fantascene, “an exquisite fantasy played to extremes with photographer Steven Klein”, is a Limited Edition Holiday 2015 collection brought to us by Nars in collaboration with a fantastic photographer Steven Klein.
Chanel Joues Contraste Blush in Rose Initial #72 is a bright, warm, medium pink with yellow undertones. On me the shade looks similar to MAC Dainty Mineralize Blush, but the finish of Rose Initial is more subtle. It has Chanel’s signature micro glitter, just about the right amount not to be over the top but to lift the shade so it doesn’t look flat on the skin.
Émotion Joues Contraste has been released in the US about a year ago. It was released quietly and, as far as I know, it wasn’t a part of any collection. It is still available to purchase from nordstrom.com.
Pink Cult is a blush that will be repromoted as part of the MAC Artificially Wild Blushes collection. This collection will soon hit the counters and it will consist of three blushes. Next to Skin is a brand new shade, while Pink Cult and Taupe are repromotes.
Sorry for the hiatus everyone, it was unplanned and unfortunately inevitable. I’m slowly getting back into my everyday routine and looking forward to sharing with you some of my recent buys – the ones that I absolutely love, and those that haven’t proved to be a good choice.
Over the past few years Chanel had many beautiful blushes added to their permanent range and released some truly outstanding limited edition shades. Somewhere in the process they must have changed their baked formula slightly, as the blushes are much softer and pigmented these days. Still, I often hear how their baked blush formula is not good – I strongly disagree. I own 7 of those, and except for the one that I bought a long time ago, they are all blushes of exceptional quality. Beside great formula, another reason Chanel is the top brand for me when it comes to blushes is that the shades they come up with are always complex and unique.
I find mauve cheeks very flattering on my fair skin and easy to wear all year round. Bellow are the comparison swatches of some of my favourite shades – each beautiful in its own way and, in the eye of a blush lover, different enough from another.
Sunny days finally arrived in London, and with it my desire to reach more often for brighter colours, bronzers and highlighters. Although I wear them all year round, I enjoy them a bit more when the sun is out as that is the time when their beauty shows the most.
As you might have guessed from the blog’s name, I have a thing for blushes. Illamasqua Ambition is guilty for that obsession. It’s the first blush I really fell in love with, the one that made such a difference when applied to my ghostly skin.
