I’ve been playing with Chanel Rouge Noir Illusion d’Ombre, the newest addition to my eyeshadow collection, this morning to see how it compares to other burgundy and plummy shades I own. I ofter go crazy about a product just to realise I already own something very similar when I get home. I’ve pulled out Nars Subra Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow, Burberry Mulberry Sheer Eyeshadow and Urban Decay Roach Eyeshadow to see how they compare.
I’ve expected Chanel Rouge Noir Illusion d’Ombre to stand out as it is the only cream eyeshadow of the bunch and I wasn’t disappointed. It’s a similar tone as Nars Subra Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow, but Subra is darker, more black and the multi-dimensional effect is not as obvious when applied to the eyes. Burberry Mulberry Sheer Eyeshadow is a bit warmer, less sparkly. Urban Decay Roach Eyeshadow is a different tone, warmer, earthy and with gold sheen.
All of these are great quality eyeshadows, very well pigmented and easy to blend. Nars Subra retails at £21/1.5g, Chanel Rouge Noir Illusion d’Ombre is £25/4g, Burberry Mulberry Sheer Eyeshadow is unfortunately discontinued but you can get it in a new Burberry Eye Colour Silk formula for £23/2.7g and Urban Decay Roach Eyeshadow is £14/1.5g.
