Named after Chanel’s cult nail polish Rouge Noir, Chanel’s highly anticipated 2015 Holiday Collection is full of gems that any makeup lover would find hard to resist. As a fan of Illusion d’Ombre eyeshadows there was no doubt that I would rush to pick up one of the Rouge Noir cream eyeshadows first.
This collection is all about vamp look and Rouge Noir Illusion d’Ombre fits perfectly into that category. It’s a stunning shade – warmer in the packaging then when swatched, it’s a burgundy base packed with pink micro shimmer. The shimmer is dense but fine and it looks beautiful on the eye, elegant and not over the top. When applied, on my cool-toned skin, it looks more purple than burgundy. The shades work perfectly on the eye, the warm tone does not make me look tired or as if I just cried (this was unfortunately the case with Diapason Illusion d’Ombre).
I’m not sure if Chanel has done something different with the formula of Rouge Noir, but I was happy to see that there were no shrinking issues with this eyeshadow when I opened it. The formula is very easy to work with, you can apply it with your fingers or with a brush (I love Chanel #19 Eye Brush for cream eyeshadows).
Rouge Noir Illusion d’Ombre (£25/4g) is everything I hoped for, I love how it looks on me. It’s a shade I will need to get a backup of!
