Bar #056 is an eyeshadow palette from Dior’s permanent range, realised in Fall 2014. It won me over after testing it in store where every shade swatched creamy soft and the colour combinations looked perfect for a smokey eye look. However, after I bought it and have been using it for a while this palette proved to be a hit and miss for me.
The biggest issue I have is that the lightest two shades look almost identical on the eye. When applied the pink shade does not look pink at all. Also, when blended finish is not nearly as nice as when swatched on the arm. Heavy swatch looks great – it has a rich pearly finish that I loved when I tested this eye palette in store. But when applied with a brush and blended it looks transparent and glittery.
Another disappointment was the darkest, black shade. It is so difficult to find a nice, very pigmented black. I was hoping this palette would have an answer to that but unfortunately it let me down. It’s more of a dark grey than black, with a hint of brown in it.

That leaves me with two shades I adore – middle one which is a beautiful mid-toned taupe and top left which is a gorgeous, complex grey. However, considering the price (£42.00/6.0g) I can’t justify a whole palette just because I love these two shades.
Lasting power of every shade in this Dior eye palette is great. I just wish that the pink one was really pink as that would justify the purchase for me.
